Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute
The Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute (KCRI) is the research pillar of the Good Samaritan Foundation (GSF) in Moshi, Tanzania. GSF also comprises of the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC) and Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo). KCRI in principal is a an academic center for evidence based health interventions including mhealth and ehealth interventions mainly to improve adherence to treatment.
Children of Kilimanjaro Foundation
The Children of Kilimanjaro Foundation in the Netherlands supports vulnerable children in Kilimanjaro Region. They started working in Mdawi village, a small village on the lower slops of Mount Kilimanjaro. Their local partner is the Women & Youth Careline Foundation. Several projects targeting education and health have been done such as building and renovating schools, individual sponsoring of schoolchildren, support of HIV positive children, building and support of the local dispensary and emergency food assistance. Mhealth is used to educate pregnant women visiting the dispensary. Currently, we are exploring using mhealth for others issues such as prevention of diabetes and family planning.
