Ujumbe Consultancy was founded in 2016 by a team of ICT experts and health scientists. The first project was with a small dispensary in a rural area to educate pregnant women. Women receive SMSes from the dispensary with information about healthy lifestyle and danger signs during pregnancy and reminders about clinic visits. Since then Ujumbe.org has been working on several projects that involved support of pregnant women and HIV positive individuals through using mobile phones. They continue expanding their ideas on mhealth and ehealth and therefore they decided to start up Ujumbe Consultancy. The combination of knowledge on health sciences and health IT opens an excellent way for creating innovations in health programs!
Projects are done on implementation basis and as research to create evidence based interventions to improve health. Projects are developed based on theories and previous research. Currently, the focus is on HIV positive individuals and on mothers and babies. These are chosen as mortality among these groups in Tanzania is high, but can be simply prevented. We are exploring other target groups that need improvement or management of health such as diabetes patients and children's nutrition.
Our vision is to create a healthier life for people of Tanzania
